Koch-Chemie Thermo Pad Headlight Polishing 76 × 23 mm is a thermochromic polishing pad designed for the final polishing of PMMA headlight lenses and for use with Koch-Chemie Headlight Polish 2.
Thermochromic pigments cause the pad to change colour from orange to yellow at around 45°C, helping monitor heat build-up in the temperature-sensitive PMMA lens during polishing. As the pad cools, it returns to its original orange colour.
The pad helps remove fine scratches, holograms and polishing marks, leaving the headlight lenses clear and glossy.
Advantages:
— Reversible thermochromic colour indicator changes when heated and returns to its original colour as it cools
— Allows repeated monitoring of heat build-up throughout polishing
— Available separately, not only as part of the Headlight Polish Set
— Compatible with rotary polishing machines
— Original Koch-Chemie product
Areas of application:
— Final polishing of PMMA headlight lenses to a high-gloss finish
— Removal of fine scratches, holograms and marks from previous polishing stages
— Monitoring heat build-up when polishing with Headlight Polish 2
— Replacement for a worn Thermo Pad from the Headlight Polish Set
Directions for use:
Before polishing, clean the headlight thoroughly and mask adjacent painted surfaces and trim, including the edges of the hood, fenders, grille and bumper.
Apply a small amount of Headlight Polish 2 to the pad and polish the headlight lens with a rotary polishing machine at medium speed and moderate pressure, using overlapping cross-hatch passes.
At around 45°C, the pad changes colour from orange to yellow. This indicates that pressure or speed should be reduced, or polishing paused, to prevent excessive heat build-up in the PMMA lens.
As the pad cools, it returns to its original orange colour. Remove any remaining polish residue with a clean microfiber towel.
