Up to 80% of swirl marks come not from gravel but from bad washing — dirt gets rubbed into the paint with a sponge. A two-phase wash removes the heavy dirt before anything touches the car.
Phase 1: touchless
Apply snow foam to the dry body from the bottom up and let it dwell 3–5 minutes without drying. For regular washes use pH-neutral Gentle Snow Foam — it doesn't strip wax or coatings. Rinse under pressure.
Phase 2: contact wash
Dilute a car shampoo and use the two-bucket method: one with solution, one with clean water to rinse the mitt, grit guards in both. Wash with a microfiber mitt top-down in straight lines, sills and lower bumper last.

Drying
Never let the body air-dry — droplets leave water spots. Blot with a plush drying towel, no pressure.
Common mistakes
- Washing in direct sun or on a hot body — products dry out and stain.
- Dish soap instead of shampoo — strips wax, dries out trim.
- One sponge for everything including wheels. Wheels get dedicated products.
- Circular motions — that is exactly what draws swirl marks.
